Surely dear reader, you by know that documenting love is one of my favorite things. To get to see the visible lines of connection, of hope and trust between two people is magic. To be invited in with my camera, to have people willing to share this private part of themselves, the part that is home and harbor for another. WHAT MAGIC. So obviously I was beside myself when Kelsey and Alysondra contacted me and asked if I could do an intimate home and neighborhood session for them. YAY!
Kelsey and I have long been camera friends and art friends and she knew my work well. Alysondra and her were both interested in their ordinary lives being captured, their favorite coffee shop, their favorite barista, their front stoop. And I don't mind mentioning that in the middle of all that togetherness we threw in a couple of head-shots for Alysondra and her gorgeous therapy dog for her therapy practice in Fremont.
Now I went in to this session ready for anything (as you do with a home session, when one can't prepare) but my big goal was to give them this tangible view of their love and generosity towards each other. We started with mimosas in the living room, then a quick walk around the block for coffee, some storytelling in the neighborhood and on their porch and in the end we migrated to their comfy bed and they changed into comfy clothes and cuddled and I could barely breathe from how true and honest and special the air felt. These two are truly magic together and these pictures will be my favorite for a long long time.
