In late Autumn I met Amy Bush, the founder and craftswoman behind Loyalsmith Jewelry at Seward Park. Amy was hosting a Jewelry Party for her Entrepreneur lady small business friends and she asked me to photograph it. Our goal was to get candids of her friends wearing her breathtaking creations and also capture the atmosphere of Amy herself and Seattle craftswoman culture.Read More
This post is because I have made it through my first year! Tada! What's next? Many more years I guess..... It's impossible to know for sure what the future brings, but I want to talk directly to you who know me and love me because you are the ones that have made all of this possible.Read More
I'm all kinds of overwhelmed in my life this week. Is it our upcoming vacation/work trip or is it recovering from the holidays? Is it my husband's new every-changing work schedule or the four year old's regression? Whatever it is - I am holding it together BUT BARELY.
Fortunately, showing you internet darlings these GORGEOUS pictures I took for B.B.B.C. or Ballard Barbell and Boxing Club is a priority for me. Seriously! I loved these athletes. I loved the access they gave me and the willingness with which they shared how hard and wonderful and terrifying boxing in specific and fitness in general can be.
This is Nate. He's Head Couch and founder of this beautiful space in Ballard. He is funny and strong and thoughtful. He is a Certified Nutritional Therapist and a Registered USA Boxing Coach and a bunch of other things including an all around badass. Whenever I get brave enough to move my fitness routine out of my living room and in front of people he will be who I ask to guide me through that process.
I love the process of getting to tell a small business' story. I hit an intimate class on a dark winter's night with a group of dedicated athletes and beginners. I can't wait to go back.
In this economy, so many of us are turning to entrepreneurship to try to pay our mortgage and still see our families once in a while. Ballard is becoming more and more corporate and boring but there are still these spots of soul. These places where you can go and they care, they know your name, they know your dogs name, they remember who you are. Ballard Barbell and Boxing is one of those places. Nate cares and the whole gym is infused with his encouragement and optimism. Check it out y'all! The first class is free.
