That's me! Right there! With the kid on my back!
Perhaps you've started to wonder what I look like because I'm never in the pictures, always behind the lens. Well, let me tell you...that's me.
I went on a vacation to New York city with my five year old and my best friend took vacation-session type photographs of us! It's so wonderful! Now I have the type of photographs of myself that I provide for others! It's literally all my dreams come true in one place.
Have you heard of a vacation session before now?
Well, let me explain, t's like a basic documentary photography session, where you plan an awesome activity (baking cookies, visiting a pumpkin patch, shopping at the supermarket etc) and you bring a me and my lens with you EXCEPT you're on vacation!?! Which means you are more relaxed and more connected than usual.
Does your family like to camp? Invite me along. Does your tribe get together every summer at the cabin? Invite me along! Are you planning the most epic Disney adventure of a lifetime? Invite me ALONG! get pictures to remember it by. Don't don't don't set yourself up to be running around trying to make everyone smile! Offload that job onto me and you can just relax like you deserve.
When I was a kid my parents took us all over the world, but when I had a kid he turned out to be one who thrived on routine and needed us to keep to a schedule as much as possible. This year he turned the big FIVE and we have been taking bigger and bigger steps out into the real world, culminating in a gorgeous weekend in Brooklyn with my bestie Ash.
We took the subway and shopped for pets and hung out in Times Square, met Broadway performers and hung out with the Statue of Liberty. It was deeply wonderful and I'm so thrilled to share it with you, especially because I get to be IN these photos because Ash has a wonderful eye and photographs me the same way I always always want to be photographed. The same way I photograph others - as if I am beautiful no matter what - as if everything I am doing is worthy of notice and care. anyways. I hate how being behind the camera means I'm never in front of it and I'm thrilled to show you my beautiful ordinary life.
So scroll down and enjoy the pics and also start dreaming up your next long weekend away!
